Tributes | vindy.com — GERALDINE 'LIZ' ELIZABETH CHEPKE - Youngstown Vindicator

C. - On Oct. 14, 2018, Geraldine “Liz” Elizabeth Chepke left this earth. She was surrounded and enveloped in the love of her family - to whom she was a beacon of light. Anyone who met her, immediately fell in love with her kind soul and lovely personality.  Geri was born in Youngstown, on Dec. 25, to her late parents Walter and Julia Cooper. She was a proud alum of Kent State University, where she earned her teaching degree. Geri taught for a number of years and it wasn’t uncommon for her students to reach out to her even now to let her know that she was their favorite teacher.  Geri leaves behind numerous loved ones. She was married to the love of her life, Thomas Chepke, for 61 wonderful years. They shared numerous adventures, near and far, and together created a beautiful and loving family. She was adored by her four children, Dawn Chepke, Laurie (Karl) Mogg, Tom (Pam) Chepke and Gary (Angie) Chepke, and their worlds are all a little less bright without her here. She provided her grandchildren, Craig (Tiffany), Erin, Katey (Marshall), Lyndsey (Ryan), Mallory, Tommy, Gary, and Cory, with incredible memories, never missing a chance to tell them how beautiful and brilliant she thought them to be. Geri found immense joy in the youngest members of the family, her great-grandchildren, Owen, Tristan, Quinn and Eli, as well as two lovely bonus great-grands, Simon and Wolfgang, whose parents, Lindsey and Jake Kozecke, she also loved. In addition to the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was devoted, she leaves behind a sister, Delores and several nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. Geri was also the mama to four little dogs, Barkley, Bootsy, Abby and Dolly, who she was continually spoiling and sneaking treats.  Geri was an avid Duke University sports fan. She and Thomas would travel the country to follow the Duke Women’s Basketball team, even if the close games were too hard for her to watch. She also loved going to Disney with her daughters and grandchildren, where she was treated like an a...
